Serendipity

Here’s the highlight of my day:

I was working on my book while listening to a Brad Mehldau CD. I had just written the sentence, “Bach, Mozart and Beethoven were masters of the variation form, the Japanese artist Hokusai did a series of paintings called ‘36 Views of Mt. Fuji,’ Wallace Stevens wrote a poem titled ‘13 Ways of Looking at a Blackbird.’” And just as I typed that word “Blackbird,” Brad started playing a Beatles’ song called…?  “Blackbird!” Whoah! The timing was amazing!

Proof that there is still magic afoot and a mysterious order in the universe.
