The Climate
Change Summit is happening this week in San Francisco, kicked off by the large
rally on Saturday (see my post Speaking
with Art). As mentioned in that post, our school group led some surrounding
folks in my Earth Day Rap. This was something I wrote way back in late 1980’s
for an Earth Day celebration at my school. (The photo was from the celebration
with me reciting it accompanied by a school parent named …… Bobby McFerrin!)
Seems like the
sentiments I expressed then sadly are still relevant today—and indeed, more so
than ever. I include them here (copied from my book Now's the Time: Teaching Jazz to All Ages) for anyone’s use who’s out marching. Enjoy!
