"Suddenly I'm Not Sad"

Another spirit-lifting sing with 70 preschoolers today, my Thursday afternoon church. After we sang “This Old Man” (and all preschoolers concurred that that described me!), I overheard a 4-year old exclaim, “Suddenly I’m not sad anymore!”
Ladies and gentlemen, can we stop talking about music and math scores? Can we stop pretending that we can’t afford to hire a music teacher? If some ignorant person in power decides to cut music from the schools or refuses to include it or reduces it to its merely testable components and needs some convincing, try this:

A little girl was sad, she sang a song and it made her happy.

Isn't that enough?
