News highlights the past few days:
• Kristi Noem, the Governor of South Dakota, speaks at an NRA Convention bragging that her beautiful two-year old granddaughter already owns two rifles.
• Fox News settles out of court with Dominion without an apology to the public about purposefully lying about the election results and instead, announcing their commitment to the “highest standards of journalism.”
• Florida governor Ron De Santis goes after Disney while lying George Santos announces his re-election plans.
• More revealed about Clarence Thomas’s shady deals with Harlan Crow, the billionaire with statues of Stalin in his yard and Hitler paraphernalia in his house.
• Sheriff and City Council people in Oklahoma were recorded after a meeting and caught discussing killing journalists and lamenting that they couldn’t lynch black people any more.
How to respond to the onslaught of certifiably insane sub-humans in positions of power? This poster in the gym in a school in Moscow gave me some pointers:
1) Yes, we can choose to not watch, read or hear the news. Just unplug. But somehow that gives permission for it all to continue.
2) Definitely a viable choice. Canada. New Zealand. Germany. Almost anywhere where Trump isn’t friendly with the leaders (i.e., North Korea, China, Russia, etc.). But still what happens “here” affects what happens “there.”
3) Have you tried talking friendly to the haters on social media? Good luck with that.
4) Better choice, especially if you have the law behind you as in Trump’s arraignment and the Fox News suit and action hopefully soon to be taken against Clarence Thomas. But you see how even then, these Teflon lawbreakers escape full consequence.
5) Best choice. The only problem? Where can we find adults in our national discourse? And if we find them, what authority do they actually have over these naughty children?
Just wondering.
PS The gym is in Moscow, Idaho.
